RIBA Yorkshire Annual General Meeting

On 14 September RIBA Yorkshire held their annual general meeting at the 2011 RIBA award winning Sandal Magna Community Primary school. Before the meeting, the building's architect Sarah Wigglesworth led a detailed tour of the building, explaining the ideas behind the inspiring building.

At the AGM, we said a fond fairwell to the Chair of the Yorkshire Region Geoff Ward. We will be sad to see him go. John Orrell, director of DLA Architecture will take over as the new Chair. His welcome speak was very inspiring and we look forward to working closely with him..

RIBA Yorkshire delivers the services of the Royal Institute of British Architects in the Yorkshire and Humber region. Our mission is to advance architecture by demonstrating the benefit to society and to promote excellence in the profession.

The RIBA regions fulfil a vital co-ordinating role between RIBA members and the public. RIBA Yorkshire covers the largest county in the country, with divers landscape rangind from the East Yorkshire coastline and Humber estuary to the Yorkshire Dales and Moors. The region incorporates the cities of Leeds, Bradford, York, Hull and Sheffield, as well as many smaller market towns and villages. The region stretched from Sheffield to just south of Middlesbrough and from the east coast to the border with Lancashire and Cumbria.
